Volunteer with us
Inter-Action MK is a very lively and inspiring charity offering a range of exciting and varied opportunities to both volunteers and the local community members that we work with. We are keen for people from all sections of the local community to be involved in our work; we value the contribution of volunteers as an integral part of the projects we provide. Hours vary depending on the particular role or project you are involved with.
Bradwell Abbey Three Gardens Volunteer
Inter-Action Mk and the City Discovery Centre are working together to create 3 new public gardens at Bradwell Abbey: A community garden with fruit and veg, a children’s garden and a sensory garden. With a grant from Awards for All and MK Rotary to start us off, we are at the very beginning and the community garden is taking shape largely thanks to the work of volunteers. Could you join them? We are happy to welcome individuals, groups if you’d like a spot of team building and families. Its a great way to make new friends and be outdoors. We currently meet up on Thursdays and Fridays from 10am but get in touch if these days or times don’t suit you.
Workshop and Events Assistants
One of the most vibrant volunteer roles at Inter-Action MK is helping us to produce successful arts workshops and events that engage the local community or specific groups in original artwork, performance and entertainment. We are always looking for dedicated and friendly people to help with planning and preparation, assisting with the facilitation of workshops, stewarding at events, or even assisting with creative activities during an event. The possibilities are endless, we are always willing to listen to new ideas and encourage you to develop your own interests and skills.
Groovy Gecko Club Night Assistants
A very well established and much loved club night for adults with learning support needs. We are always eager for some extra pairs of hands to help set up and decorate our wonderful Slug and Lettuce venue, befriend the club goers and to get the crowd riled up with some funky moves on the dance floor! One of the many strengths of the club is that adults with support needs can also become a part of the crew – managing the themes of the nights, developing as a DJ, MC-ing for the crowd and encouraging the members, new and old, to let loose and have a great time! The club is held on the first Tuesday of every month at The Slug and Lettuce from 7.00pm-10.00pm.
