Community arts charity Inter-Action MK has been bringing arts to life in Milton Keynes for over 40 years. We use the arts to bring joy and purpose to all communities and especially to improve the life chances of people with support needs or disabilities or in challenging or vulnerable circumstances. Our innovative programme of inclusive arts successfully brings people of all backgrounds together in shared creative activity. Our programme helps participants to develop creative, personal and social skills. Our current activities include the now legendary Groovy Gecko club, a night club run by and for learning disabled adults based at The Slug & Lettuce in Milton Keynes. We also create and offer projects carefully targeted at particular groups and needs, and also inclusive participatory opportunities in both new and established communities.
We are proud of the fact that we make a genuine difference to people’s lives and that we have inspired many other MK arts organisations who started with us as volunteers or emerging artists. Many of the projects have arisen from collaborative discussions around our huge kitchen table.
Inter-Action Mk works across all art forms. We have a strong partnership ethos and have worked alongside many local providers, organisations and agencies.
